There was a series of these lovely romantic scene brooches produced during the mid century in Limoge, France. Limoge has been responsible for the production of quality porcelain since 1771. Transfer printed on to porcelain and often touched with hand painting. The romantic scenes were reminiscent of the paintings of Honore Fragonard from the 18th century. This one has an 18th century lady being serenaded by her lover who is playing the bagpipes !!  It is in good vintage condition with the Limoges signature to the back along with a well working trumpet style catch.
